12 January 2015

The first working day of the project  started early. First we had Slovenian breakfast at the hotel then all the teams went to our Slovenian partner school Srednja Poklicna in Techična Šola where we were welcomed nicely by Slovenian team. The school was very close to our hotel. So, this was the first best thing about our hotel. We participated the opening ceremony of the meeting. The ceremony started with two of the students' live performances of music which was really nice. Klavdija made a nice opening speech and Ludvik; the headmaster introduced his school and Slovenia.

Then all partners had an opportunity to present their team one by one .Then, video about Slovenia especially the parts where we won’t be able to visit and short introduction of the programme were realized.

Later on we went on a guided tour around the school. We had very good impressions on the school. It was time for lunch when the guided tour ended.

After the delicious lunch, the food presentations of each country were made. The  presentations were made according to alphabetical order. It was funny  to watch cooking processes of the students of every partner After watching the presentations, we  all prepared international village in order to taste international food.  There were six wonderful tables introducing each country’s delicious meals. We were all full while going back to the hotel. The first day was a clue of the excellent week we would spend in Slovenia.

Day six (Friday-October 17)

On Friday we went to visit Antwerp.
In Antwerp the railway station was very historical. It was very big and beautiful. You can feel yourself in ancient times. The city was also very historical, too.
The students had a city game again to find and take the photos of the historical places and aspects of Antwerp.
We had a nice guide who told us nearly every important thing of Antwerp. We had great information by the help of her. Thanks to her.
In our free time in Antwerp we walked around the city and saw the really nice expensive diamond jewelry shops.
After the visit of Antwerp, the Belgian Evening was waiting for us. The host families and The Belgian Teachers prepared that unforgettable evening for us. It was really nice. The students and the teachers sang the song ‘ık hou van u’ together. It was unforgettable.
At the end of the evening the students, some of the host families were crying because leaving time came. The week ended very quickly for everyone. The week was full of friendship, hospitality and memories.
But unfortunately, every nice thing has an end.

Day four (Wednesday-October 15)

On Wednesday we visited Brussels. The European Union’s capital city is really beautiful. The PARLAMENTARIUM was huge. The visit hall was fantastic. There were different parts inside the visit hall.
The second part of the day was discovering the city. We walked to the Royal Palace and the students played a city game to see the historical places and the important aspects of the city.
The teachers walked to the Grote Markt together and in our free time we walked around the Grote Markt and visited the Statute of Manneken Pis. The statue is really amusing.
We could not have a chance to see the Atomium. It was pity for us.
At the end of the day we returned to Geel.
That evening, the students were with host families. They had a chance to live a Belgian Family Life together.

Day three (Tuesday-October 14)

The day started with the elementary Dutch for us. We learnt to introduce ourselves, saying and asking where are we from, ordering something to drink and eat. Moreover we learnt a song Ik Hou Van U which means I love You in Dutch.
Then the workshops started. With the students we tried to do the instructions without speaking. We tried to do nonverbal communication. Sometimes we found it hard but we understood some nonverbal communication gestures are universal.
The Belgian team prepared a variety of non verbal communication workshops for us. In each time we realized the communication is not only speaking. The mimics, the gestures, the speech, the reactions, the eye contact, the voice tune, the willingness etc. are important for communication. Thanks to Karin, Leen and Rosemarijn about their workshops.
In the afternoon, we visited the Gasthuismuseum. The museum was used by the Nuns in the past. The Nuns were helping to the insane people. The town helped them financially. We learned the lives of them.
Then, we returned to school to watch the workshop of the students. While we were at the museum they walked around Geel and took some photos and created a movie as a group about Non-verbal communication. The movies were very nice and we understood that the students had real information by the help of the workshops in the morning. After the presentations the school day ended.
The students went to the Irish Pub.

The teachers came together in Flore restaurant on the Market Square. The meal was delicious again. We ate Salmon again and this dish was delicious, too.
